What's Outherine? Part IV
A timeline of events.

So, we’ve covered specific outherinities and vocabulary, but how did we get here? While I explained some history in the first and third parts of this series, I feel as though a simple, referencable timeline could be of benefit.
Consider this section less of an explanatory article, and more of a general reference.

2014
January 20th: The earliest outherinity, aliagender, is named on a Tumblr blog called askanonbinary at the request of another user named Zobothehobo. It describes gender that is simply “other”; entirely detatched from male and female, but still very present.
May 31st: After identifying as neutrois for a year, an enban named Vesper begins to feel unsatisfied with the term and dysphoric over others confusing neutrality and genderlessness. They introduce the term maverique — a gender seperate from masculinity, femininity, neutrality, and defined primarily by autonomy — on their blog Queer As Cat to describe themselves instead.
November 12th: Discourse erupts over aliagender. In response, a Tumblr blog aptly titled aporagender introduces just that; aporagender, or gender entirely independent of male and female, but still present. Unlike aliagender, it does not describe any “otherness”.
December 20th: Tumblr user Epochryphal introduces the term ilyagender, literally meaning “there is a gender”. It is described as a tangible presence of gender that is not male, female, neutral, or agender, nor between, a combination of, or derived from any of those. It is also described as related to aliagender, aporagender, and maverique.
2017
June 19th: An anonymous individual coins anonbinary to describe those outside of both binary and non-binary.
July 8th: Tumblr user fliipclaw makes an early critique of the idea of a gender trinary. However, this won’t become a discussion among oumen until years later.
2018
June 11th: The idea of atrinary is coined by Tumblr user beyond-mogai-pride-flags to describe all genders outside of male, female, and a third quality, described as usually being neutrality. This would remain a primary descriptor of outherinity for a while.
November 4th: The same Tumblr user creates a flag for those whose gender is “other”, similar to aliagender, which they also call eligender.
2019
January 12th: The term outherine is first used by Tumblr user Oltiel to describe all gender qualities independent of masculinity, femininity, neutrality, androgyny, nullity, and xeninity. They state,
There are overall four qualities used to explain or define gender identities and expressions and connections: feminine, masculine, androgynous and neutral. Those are four subjective concepts yet possible to imagine, as we can use fem and masc as parameters for imagination.
But there are genders like maverique or possibly aporagender involving entirely new qualities. Still, there was no word for those new qualities. Those are outherine. Outherinity is a concept just to describe new qualities (or essences), giving a general name for a fifth, sixth, seventh, etc quality.
Outherine qualities are as subjective as the other four mentioned. Only people themselves can determine whether or not their identities (or even expressions) are outherine.
January 25th: Péra is introduced by Glyzinite under a blog aptly named Peragender. It is described as a single, specific, “atrinary” gender.
July 26th: The outherine flag is created by Tumblr user imoga-pride. It is quickly adopted by the community, although Oltiel states their belief that there isn’t a need for one.
2020
March 14th: Outherine is added to the LGBTQIA Wiki. The alternate spelling outhrine is introduced.
November 18th: The term kenochoric is introduced by a Tumblr blog of the same name. A carrd is created for the term and regularly updated. It is perhaps the most well-known preterine gender.
December 28th: Brinesystem introduces the term daen, a gender that matches both male and female while not being derived from, influenced by, or shirking from either. It is described as a form of androgyny opposed to masculine and feminine instead of between them.
2021
January 3rd: The subreddit r/Maverique is created as a forum for mavren.
January 18th: beyond-mogai-pride-flags coins the term transoutherine for those who are transitioning towards outherinity.
June 9th: Tumblr user honk4bees creates the 13-striped outherine flag to match similar flag designs for other gender qualities.
July 30th: Twitter user aboredsapphic creates the andergender system to describe those who are both outherine and of another quality.
2023
October 20th: The subreddit r/Outherine is created as a forum for oumen. It does not gain much traction and eventually closes.
2024
January 29th: The tesseract is proposed as the symbol of outherinity by a Tumblr user, who states
Like the tesseract is viewed as a cube through the 3d lense, outherinity is viewed as androgyny through the [binary] lense. By looking through the right lense, we can seeing the tesseract for what it really is.
March 19th: Oumin is reintroduced by Tumblr user theoutherlings to refer to an adult outherine individual, equivalent to man or woman. Under this same post, Tumblr user posting-stuffies proposes oune to refer to a younger oumin, equivalent to boy or girl.
May 26th: Oumel is introduced by Tumblr user ryanyflags to describe outherine sex, equivalent to male or female.
June 10th: Tumblr user themaveriqueagenda makes multiple posts critiquing the idea of the “gender trinary” and “atrinary” as a descriptor for outherine genders. This sparks discussion among oumen.
June 24th: Tumblr user demimaverique coins the term maverism to describe the advocacy for mavren and other abinary genders.
2025
January 12th: On outherine’s 11th birthday, theoutherlings puts a name to forine, itherine, ipsine, preterine, umbine, disine, circumine, anderine, dipherine, and ectine. I explained many of these terms and their importance to oumen in Part II.
February 24th: Tumblr user your-bigender-big-brother introduces the terms ordinous and exordinous. The former describes genders that fall within masculinity, femininity, androgyny, and neutrality; the latter describes genders outside of those. These would be used by some to replace “trinary” and “atrinary”.
March 10th: Your-bigender-big-brother coins antitrinarist to describe those who reject the idea of a gender trinary. In its description, the term is stated to have been made in solidarity with oumen who are forced under the term “atrinary”.
August 10th: A new outherine subreddit, r/outherinity, is created as a forum for oumen.
August 24th: The term tofferosic is coined on the subreddit r/QueerVexillology. It describes oumen who love other oumen, as well as relationships between two oumen.
September 10th: Yours truly names cattrine. Also explained in Part II.
September 11th: An UrbanDictionary user coins the word tautine to refer to all non-outherine qualities.
